Ford has finally announced on their website the official return of the Ford Taurus SHO. This is an event that has been highly anticipated, as the Taurus SHO model hasn’t been produced since 1999. In its previous ten-year production from 1989 to 1999, over 100,000 models were sold. Given the Taurus SHO’s reputation for being a subtly designed sports car, this news is thrilling for previous enthusiasts of the model.
The 2010 Taurus SHO will include a 365 horsepower 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged Ecoboost V-6 Engine. This unique engine has greatly improved power and fuel economy over other engines, and is the largest Ecoboost engine manufactured by Ford to-date. The Ecoboost engine also includes direct gasoline injection, which further adds to the improved functionality of this engine.
The improved performance of the 2010 Taurus SHO is also enhanced by the torque-sensing All-Wheel Drive System. Added to the six-speed, high-capacity SelectShift transmission, this gives the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO traction during high-speed acceleration.
The 2010 Taurus SHO also includes many luxurious standard features that are true to Ford’s standards of providing a comfortable, safe driving experience. Ford SYNC, ambient lighting, Push Button Start, and MyKey are only a few of the many standard features of the 2010 Taurus, with many optional luxury features available. Taurus dealerships everywhere are going to be satisfied with this one, and we have already heard that Cincinnati Ford dealers are expected to carry them as well.
True to its former reputation, the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO provides the feel and features of a sports car, while still giving a driver the comfort and fuel economy of a four-door sedan. The aesthetically subtle design features help the Taurus SHO to maintain its reputation as a “stealth” sports car. With so many luxury and safety features to choose from, it’s ensured that the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO will overtake the previous model both in functionality and popularity.
