Ford’s website says that the 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is “The Most Fuel-Efficient SUV on the Planet.”  As of right now, no one can argue with them.  Averaging 34 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, it’s fuel economy rivals that of some ecofriendly passenger cars!  One of the tricks is that when you are idling in traffic or are travelling at speeds less than 44 mph while in electic mode, the Escape Hybrid does not use any gasoline.  But the green effort did not stop at the gas tank; Ford even made the seats inside from green materials.  Ford started using soybean foam a few years ago in their seats, and the consumers seem to love the durable comfort they provide.  Plus, Ford made the Escape Hybrid seats from 100% post-industrial materials, so it basically took a bunch of materials that were on their way to the landfills and crafted comfortable seating for five passengers; impressive!

There must be something that consumers have not liked about this model, but the complaints are pretty superficial.  Apparently the process to fold down the back seats is a bit of a pain, but it is only a matter of time until the push button feature that is popping up on other models finds itself installed in the Escape.  Other drivers say the powertrain is noisy when going on an onramp, but then again, you are in an SUV and they aren’t the quietest vehicles on the road.

As well as the power, smooth ride, and conservative fuel economy the Ford Escape also has an excellent six-speed automatic transmissions, comfortable passenger accomodations, not to mention the the availability of a gas/electric hybrid model.

Yet despite all these great SUV traits, consumers have not been able to ignore the bad one’s either which include the crude-sounding engines, and basic design that has been said to be nearly a decade old. The interior has also been known to not be as versatile as its rivals as well as the controls confusing for the person trying to use them.

The revisions to the Ford Escape have not been known to make the consumers feel as if it has done more to win-over the competition, or distinguish it more, but it does however have a rearview camera system that helps prevent blind-spots and aid the drivers.

Overall, this car is border-line worth the $20,858-$27,254 price tag, but whether or not it really is can be left up to the consumer.
