If you have stopped by Des Moines Ford recently, then perhaps you have noticed the abundance of popular smaller cars that they are selling right now. Gone are the large gas guzzlers of yesteryear and now we see cars ranging from station wagon to subcompact. As of right now, Ford Show Low and the rest of the Ford Motor Company family dominate the sales when it comes to passenger cars, and with some of their models it isn’t hard to understand why. According to a recent report from MSN Autos, Ford produces three out of ten of the most popular passenger cars that consumers are searching on the internet.

These are the Ford cars that people are researching more than other passenger cars. To be fair, the other seven cars that people are searching for more than others include the Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Hyundai Sonata, Chevrolet Camaro, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, and Buick LaCrosse. It is not surprising to see cars from Toyota and Honda on the list, as their small passenger cars have made quite the reputation for themselves.

The Ford Mustang is one of America’s favorite cars and it is the original pony car. While 2010 brought out some slight improvements, consumers who opt to wait to purchase the 2011 model will be really impressed. There are three new and improved engine choices to choose from, plus the car weighs less which equates to higher performance capabilities! The Ford Taurus was in dire need a facelift, and now that it has gotten one, Americans can’t seem to buy this car fast enough. The improved power and safety ratings have made it an instant family favorite as well as improved the value of older models already on the road. Lastly from Ford is the Ford Fusion. Buyers love the fuel economy that they get from the hybrid model and the stylish design screams elegance at a bargain price.

Ford Motor Company has built an extremely wide variety of vehicles since its start in 1903 so it was pretty hard to compile a list of the 10 best Ford vehicles. Some of these vehicles you definitely won’t see while visiting your Cincinnati Ford Dealer because well, they aren’t manufactured. The best is judged upon if the vehicles earned a real advance in terms of engineering, design, capability, or acceptance.

1. We start off with the Model-T. It was produced from 1908 to 1927 and more than 16,500,000 were sold. Ford made it America’s first affordable car and opened the country for travel.

2. The Model A which was introduced in 1927 became very popular and was sold in a great number of body styles for a price that was between $385 – $570 and whose top speed was around 60 mph and the fuel economy was about 40 mpg.

3. The Thunderbird came about in 1955 as a response to the Corvette. This still remains a great classic since it was one of the first sporty personal luxury cars.

4. Ford shocked the sports-car world in 1966 by racing in the Le Mans with a GT40 which broke Ferrari’s string of championships. Eventually Cincinnati Ford Dealers began selling street-able versions of it.

5. In the ’60s the fierce Shelby Cobras were born. Ford definitely can take credit for the engine and drive-train of one of the world’s best sports cars.

6. After quite a few years the 1992 Taurus SHO emerged. A former owner said, “It’s great, police don’t notice, insurance and taxes are almost nothing!”

7. The 2010 Fusion Hybrid. This vehicle has won all kinds of awards because it has responsive handling, it’s fun to drive, and is available in a lot of configurations. This car is a state of the art hybrid and it’s reasonably price and has pretty good fuel economy.

8. The 2010 F-150, F-150s have been traversing the roadways since 1975 and is pretty much the best-loved truck in America. There is a lot of competition but Ford seems to outdo its rivals in most departments. Since 1948, the F-Series has sold over 30,000,000 vehicles which makes it the second-biggest seller of all time, Corolla being the first.

9. The 2011 Ford Mustang is a real improvement. Now with much better handling and performance, the 2011 offers new powertrains to keep its competitors hopping. The GT version is even hotter.

10. The 2011 Ford Fiesta, this vehicle has outsold the VW Golf and has become the best-selling car in Europe. And there’s a few simple reasons for that too. It’s a very good small car now in its sixth generation, it performs well, comes in a variety of configurations, starts at just $13,320, and is coming to take over the U.S. this summer.

Ford is Committed to Collision Protection

“Ford leads the industry in top crash-test safety ratings; now we’re helping take crash protection and prevention to new levels with technologies such as our new air bag pressure sensors,” says Steve Kozak, chief engineer of Ford Safety Systems. Each Ohio Ford dealer and others, such as Beechmont Ford, are focusing on these strategies.

Ford is doing some new (and fun) tests to improve their safety technologies. Some of these tests include ramming shopping carts into the car at high speeds, or using water cannons to force vehicles to skid. The tests are part of an ongoing effort to accelerate new collision protection avoidance technologies.

The engineers are doing these tests to take thousands of impact readings that help calibrate sensitivity of airbag pressure sensors being introduced in the new F10 and 2010 Taurus. The engineers want to be sure that a basketball from a neighbors yard won’t trigger the airbag. If the sensors can disregard minor collisions, they’ll have a step in the right direction.

Safety features are one of the top ten reasons why Ford buyers chose their vehicle, such as the Ford Explorer, according to the 2008 New Vehicle Customer Study. More than fifty percent of Ford buyers indicated that safety features are “extremely important” in their decision to purchase a Ford vehicle.

Ford Taurus Sho or just a Show?

The new 2010 Ford Taurus is not the Ford Taurus of yesterday. The new redesigned full of comfort and style in both the inside and out. Ford Taurus Sho is definitely for the sportier fans. Its one of the full size sedan available with all-wheel drive. The Ford Taurus invites you in and compliments with a variety of technology. It features the voice activated Navigation System with current local gas prices with also turn by turn navigation. It has an invisible keypad that makes locking yourself out of the car a thing of the past. The BLIS is the Blind Spot Information System. It alerts you to when there is cross traffic of any sort so changing lanes is alot safer. The engine has the 3.5L EcoBoost combining two different technologies, turbo charging and direct injection. It turns 365 horsepower and 350 lbs if torque power. It does all that with gas mileage at about 17/25 highway fuel economy. The Six Speed Select Shift Automatic Transmission comes standard in the Sho, SEL and the Limited edition. Giving the performance feel of a manual transmission without the clutch by using the wheel mounted paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. Enabling the shift changing to be swift. Now that’s excitement.

So, if the Ford Taurus Sho has all this, is it still gonna stack up to their competition? With its high sides and and the mass bulk of it, driving it can be a little tiring. Judging where it is and the bulk makes the turning a little less than nimble. It still is impressively fast with its EcoBoost engine with a cabin full of tech that’s ahead of its competitors, even after its been in Ford cars already for almost a year.

Is the New Jersey Chevy Dealers in and Mississippi Honda Dealers stacking up? Will either of them put up enough competition to combat with the Ford Taurus Sho? Or is the persona of the Ford Taurus already too much to shake for customers to see just what this vehicle has now to the yesteryears?

Ford Announces new Taurus SHO

Ford has finally announced on their website the official return of the Ford Taurus SHO. This is an event that has been highly anticipated, as the Taurus SHO model hasn’t been produced since 1999. In its previous ten-year production from 1989 to 1999, over 100,000 models were sold. Given the Taurus SHO’s reputation for being a subtly designed sports car, this news is thrilling for previous enthusiasts of the model.

The 2010 Taurus SHO will include a 365 horsepower 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged Ecoboost V-6 Engine. This unique engine has greatly improved power and fuel economy over other engines, and is the largest Ecoboost engine manufactured by Ford to-date. The Ecoboost engine also includes direct gasoline injection, which further adds to the improved functionality of this engine.

The improved performance of the 2010 Taurus SHO is also enhanced by the torque-sensing All-Wheel Drive System. Added to the six-speed, high-capacity SelectShift transmission, this gives the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO traction during high-speed acceleration.
