Ford wants to bring back that initial shock with the second generation of Fusion in 2010, releasing a standard, sport, GT, and hybrid electric version.

The new Ford Fusion will be completely overhauled with a new design, interior, and powertrain upgrade. Powertrain options include the new 2.5 and 3.0 L PIP Duratec series V6 engines paired with Ford’s new 6F35 six-speed transmission, providing 175 and 240 horsepower, respectively. The sport edition will contain a 3.5 L Duratec 35 capable of 263 hp, and the GT edition will have a 3.5 L EcoBoost V6 at 340 horsepower. The new interior will have an optional 8″ screen navigation system, Ford’s new “Ice Blue” illumination for the dash, and a brand new center console.

The hybrid electric version of the Fusion has proven to get the best fuel economy of any mid-size sedan. Announced back in 2005, it is finally surfacing to a reality. Impressively enough, the hybrid gets 41 MPG in the city, and 36 MPG on the highway. Many have reported that this car may be a wise future direction for Ford.

Beechmont Ford’s Blog expressed their excitement when they received their first 2010 Ford Fusion, and had it ready for delivery almost immediately. Many dealerships across the country have done the same.
