Ford Ranger: 2010’s Most Fuel Efficient Truck

Americans love their trucks, that is something no one can deny. Some people may prefer the luxury you find from a vehicle at Mercedes-Benz Pittsburgh, but there is something unique and almost nostalgic about a big truck. Americans are also trying to be more green and this year the two most fuel efficient trucks were compact versions. Third place was a tie between two hybrid models! Consumers can probably expect to see an increasing variety of full size hybrid trucks to choose from. You might be able to find these 2010 models from Cincinnati Used Cars or visit the dealer for some great end of the year pricing. VW Peoria offers some great hybrid and diesel cars, vans, and crossovers, but no trucks.

The most fuel efficient truck of 2010 is the Ford Ranger! This honor only applies to the 2.3 liter four cylinder engine, but still, that is some pretty impressive fuel economy ratings. If drivers opt for the more powerful V6 engine then they might want to upgrade to the Ford F-150 because you are going to get about the same fuel economy as a F-150 with a V8 engine! Both models get an anticipated 15 mpg around town and 21 mpg on the highway.

Second on the list was another compact truck, the Toyota Tacoma. Buyers might be drawn away from the Ford Ranger because the Tacoma still gives you 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway but has a lower price by a few thousand dollars. Depending on how long someone plans on keeping their truck will be a big deciding factor as to which compact truck they choose.

The 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac came in at 6th place on the Environmental Protection Agency’s list of fuel efficient trucks. With fuel estimations of 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, the convenience and versatility of the V6 Sport Trac makes it popular among young families who need a roomy backseat and towing capabilities.

The age old battle in America has been Chevy versus Ford. While it is a battle that is likely to rage on and on for years to come, hopefully it is a friendly feud. The Dodge trucks available at Dodge Chrysler Fort Worth have typically been in their own class and don’t get sucked into the American rivalry quite as much; yet! Plus, think of how many advancements have come about in the auto industry due to fierce competition. America is a nation of truck drivers and VW Dealer lots have dominance when it comes to sporty cars, but not the truck market. The first-place prize is likely to continue to be passed back and forth between the two, but let’s take a look at who wins for 2010!

Ford missed the mark though because the competition offers larger engines, while the F-150 comes with a 4.6 liter engine and there are seven trim levels consumers can choose from.

The Silverado 1500 will give drivers estimated 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. It is a little cheaper and MSRP starts at $20,850 with fully loaded options costing $41,775. U.S. News liked the Silverado for its smooth and comfortable ride, and also that it feels rugged and has capable towing capacity. The truck comes pretty basic and does not offer a lot of the innovative features its competition does. However, it does come with a much larger 6.2 liter engine that is new since 2009.

Ford Motor Company has built an extremely wide variety of vehicles since its start in 1903 so it was pretty hard to compile a list of the 10 best Ford vehicles. Some of these vehicles you definitely won’t see while visiting your Cincinnati Ford Dealer because well, they aren’t manufactured. The best is judged upon if the vehicles earned a real advance in terms of engineering, design, capability, or acceptance.

1. We start off with the Model-T. It was produced from 1908 to 1927 and more than 16,500,000 were sold. Ford made it America’s first affordable car and opened the country for travel.

2. The Model A which was introduced in 1927 became very popular and was sold in a great number of body styles for a price that was between $385 – $570 and whose top speed was around 60 mph and the fuel economy was about 40 mpg.

3. The Thunderbird came about in 1955 as a response to the Corvette. This still remains a great classic since it was one of the first sporty personal luxury cars.

4. Ford shocked the sports-car world in 1966 by racing in the Le Mans with a GT40 which broke Ferrari’s string of championships. Eventually Cincinnati Ford Dealers began selling street-able versions of it.

5. In the ’60s the fierce Shelby Cobras were born. Ford definitely can take credit for the engine and drive-train of one of the world’s best sports cars.

6. After quite a few years the 1992 Taurus SHO emerged. A former owner said, “It’s great, police don’t notice, insurance and taxes are almost nothing!”

7. The 2010 Fusion Hybrid. This vehicle has won all kinds of awards because it has responsive handling, it’s fun to drive, and is available in a lot of configurations. This car is a state of the art hybrid and it’s reasonably price and has pretty good fuel economy.

8. The 2010 F-150, F-150s have been traversing the roadways since 1975 and is pretty much the best-loved truck in America. There is a lot of competition but Ford seems to outdo its rivals in most departments. Since 1948, the F-Series has sold over 30,000,000 vehicles which makes it the second-biggest seller of all time, Corolla being the first.

9. The 2011 Ford Mustang is a real improvement. Now with much better handling and performance, the 2011 offers new powertrains to keep its competitors hopping. The GT version is even hotter.

10. The 2011 Ford Fiesta, this vehicle has outsold the VW Golf and has become the best-selling car in Europe. And there’s a few simple reasons for that too. It’s a very good small car now in its sixth generation, it performs well, comes in a variety of configurations, starts at just $13,320, and is coming to take over the U.S. this summer.

Ford’s Line of EcoBoost Engines Expanding

Ford announced that it will be opening three new power plants before the end of the year in order to expand its line of EcoBoost engines. EcoBoost is Ford’s brand name for an engine technology package that optimizes engine efficiency through turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable camshaft timing.

Scheduled for production in the US are a 2-liter 4-cylinder for the next generation of Explorer S.U.V. and the Edge, and a 3.5-liter V-6 for the F-150 pickup truck. All three engines will replace larger engines and will reportedly provide similar or enhanced performance, while reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.

Of course, efficient power is a universal goal of the world’s automakers, but Ford has been diligently selling the virtues of smaller, more advanced engines to American drivers. Ford plans to eventually make EcoBoost engines available in 90 percent of its North American nameplates and 80 percent of its brands worldwide. If you’re looking for a more reliable, fuel efficient, and a greener vehicle, then Ford is there to cater to you.

The Ford company has been known for its all-American respectful nature and quality, that theme has not gone astray on their Ford F-150 line. It is known as #1 in it’s ranking class out of eight other pick-ups in its league.

Gaining an overall 9.0 score from U.S. News it has been deemed an incredible truck both in its towing abilities, knockout interior, and innovative exterior features. Not to mention the optional customizations that the Ford company practically hands to the consumer. Doing so has led boat-loads of people to their Cincinnati dealers for great specials, and an all-in-all great vehicle.

The safety features, and frequent awards and recognization has many truck-oriented consumers how they had gone on this long without receiving the amazing deal that Ford has flung out into the consumer-starving.

Say what you want about the Ford F-150, it can take it.
