For the interior and exterior features of the new Flex are more luxurious and distinct than ever before. Some of the new interior features include front and rear 12 volt power outlets, cargo area, audio system with AM/FM radio, CD player, trip computer that includes average fuel economy, current fuel economy and range for remaining fuel. Also there is front cup holders, outside air temperature indicator, floor mats, front seat center arm rests, front and rear reading lights, cloth upholstery and illuminated driver and passenger vanity mirror. As for the exterior features of the Flex, these inlcude driver and passenger third row windows, body color front and rear bumpers, day time running lights, driver and passenger power door mirrors painted black, front fog lights and halogen headlights with complex surface lenses. Some of the performance features include a 3.5 liter Duratic V6 DOHC with variable valve timing and four valves per cylinder. It gets 262 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 248 lb ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. Along with that, the Flex comes with a multi point fuel injection system, an 18.6 gallon fuel tank, takes unleaded fuel and has an estimated fuel mileage of 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Handling features include abs brake assist system, ventilated four wheel disc brakes, electronic brake distribution, electronic traction control and immobilizer. The Ford Flex SEL with their Sync program will use the cell phone that you have paired to the vehicle to contact the 800 number for information assistance.  Once you have input your destination address, the directions will be sent to your radio screen so that you have instant navigation directions.  Should you make a wrong turn or get off course somehow, the 800 number system server will recognize the departure from the signal that the GPS chip in your vehicle is emitting and they will offer to send you a new set of directions.  While this process isn’t as seamless as some navigation systems, it is a nice alternative and demonstrative of how far Ford has come with being a technological leader.

Cincinnati Ford Lincoln Mercury Dealers will soon be carrying the all new, 2011 Ford Flex.  The Flex comes with a 3.5 liter V6 engine that creates 262 horsepower.  The engine is paired with a six speed automatic transmission.  There is also an optional twin-turbo-charged 3.5 liter Eco-Boost V6 that creates 355 horsepower, which is paired with a six speed Select-Shift transmission with paddle shifters.  This engine is available on all trims except the base model.

Like many cars bought at San Antonio Ford Dealers, the Flex comes in several different trims.  There is the base SE, SEL, Limited and the all new Titanium.  Certain models come with certain extras.  Like the Limited and Titanium models.  They come standard with a Rear View Camera System.  This system shows up on the navigation screen and includes colored guidelines to help while backing up your vehicle.  The SEL, Limited and Titanium models offer the Active Park Assist, if you have the Eco-Boost engine.   This system uses ultrasonic sensors to measure available parallel parking spaces and then will park the vehicle in the spot itself.

Like the new Chevrolet Traverse, which can be found at New Orleans Chevrolet, the Flex comes with a pretty standard warranty.  It comes with a three year/36,000 mile basic warranty as well as a five year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty.  The Ford Flex also comes with some safety features that can not be beat.  This vehicle comes standard with dual-stage front seat airbags, front seat-mounted side impact airbags and side curtain airbags for outboard occupants in all three rows.  The Flex also comes with Advance Trac with Roll Stability Control, four wheel disc anti-lock brake system and a reverse sensing system.  Ford has equipped the Flex with the MyKey system as well.  The MyKey system allows parents of teenage drivers to have more control by allowing them to set the speed and audio limits in the vehicle.

The 2011 model has yet to be tested, but the almost identical 2010 model received high scores on all tests.  The 2010 Flex received five stars for passenger protection in all seating positions in both frontal and side crash tests.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2010 Flex it’s highest rating of ‘Good” in frontal, side impact and rear crash protection.

Some say that the Flex is to expensive, and it is once you add all the extras, but you really can’t put a price on safety.  And Ford has made sure to make the Flex one of the safest SUVs around.

It offers you comfort and support, but it also gives you enough room to seat adults comfortably.

Ford Motors has brought back the mini van, and they did it with style and class. They gave the Flex enough spark to attract every one as a buyer not just families.

Ford is planning on bringing its top-of-the-line Titanium package, which is very popular in Europe, to North America on the Ford Flex large crossover and Ford Focus compact car. This could be an indication that Ford may add similar packages to more of its U.S. vehicles in the future. In Europe, Ford began offering a decked-out Titanium package with the Ford Focus about six years ago and now offers it on all of its nameplates.

Doug Henry Ford dealers are sure that since the Titanium has been so popular in Europe that it’ll be pretty popular here. The Titanium package will be offered on the Focus when it goes on sale in early 2011 and it will will begin on the Flex in the fall of 2010.

Ford said the Flex Titanium which will be sold at many places including a Cincinnati Ford dealer will feature four exterior color choices: Red candy, white platinum, tuxedo black and ingot silver. All are paired with a black two-tone roof and a unique black chrome finish grille. Inside, the Flex Titanium comes with charcoal black leather-trimmed seats, painted alloy metallic finish on the center stack and a perforated leather steering wheel.

The Titanium package adds $2,495 to the price of the Flex Limited Edition, bringing it to $43,340 or more, depending on other options selected, a move that also fits with Ford’s strategy to increase transaction prices, and, consequently, profits.

A new safety feature might actually get more drivers to buckle up, especially teenagers. Ford calls it the “no belts, no tunes” feature. It can prevent a driver from listening to a car’s stereo system if seat belts aren’t in use. This safety innovation has been on display as part of Ford’s Future of Safety tour.

The event included a demonstration of the auto world’s first production-ready rear inflatable seat belts. The restraints work like an airbag, redistributing the pressure caused by a collision over more of the passenger’s upper body. The inflatable belts also protect the head and neck better than a standard seat belt, Ford officials say.

Ford’s “MyKey” technology allows parents a measure of control over the way their teens drive. The special ignition keys allow a number of safety features to be programmed into a vehicle. They include the no belts, no tunes function, limiting a car stereo’s top volume and setting a maximum driving speed of 80 mph.

Also on display was a Ford Flex vehicle, which of course can be found at a Doug Henry Ford dealer, with the company’s “active park assist” system. That function automates the act of parallel parking.

General Motors’ StabiliTrak electronic stability control system helps keep vehicles on course when a driver panics. Nissan is working on a number of safety innovations, including alcohol sensors and anti-tiredness alerts.

Ford is developing smart sensors that can warn drivers in time to avoid collisions. The company also is working on a “Blind Spot Information System,” which senses when another car is in a driver’s blind spot and activates a light in the side mirror. Maybe some day you’ll see these innovations on a Ford from a New Hampshire Ford dealer.
